Armed Robbery Suspect In Custody

Sheriff Blake Dorning announced today that on that on October 3rd and 4th, 2016 an unknown black male subject entered the Raceway Convenience store located at 3806 Highway 53, Huntsville, AL. While in the store the subject used a handgun to affect a robbery. Initial press releases to these incidents were provided to the media several days ago. Since then, the Criminal Investigation Division continued to investigate in order to identify the subject through recovered digital images from the stores video surveillance system.  The investigator assigned to this case made contact with several Huntsville Police Department (HPD) Investigators. HPD was able to supply a possible identity of the subject based on a tattoo and a recent arrest for carrying a Concealed Weapon and giving a false name.  The subject has been subsequently identified as Corey McCrary, black male, born in 1985.  McCrary has been charged with both robberies and placed back into the Madison County Jail. He was charged with two felony counts of robbery 1st Degree with bond set at $20,000.  Photos of McCrary are available on the Madison County Sheriff’s Office Web site at www.madisoncountysheriffal.org.

McCrary was arrested on probable cause by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office and is presumed innocent until determined otherwise by the judicial system.
