Search Warrant Uncovers Drugs and Weapons

Sheriff Blake Dorning announced today that on February 22, 2017 at 0522 am the Madison County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATFE)  executed a Search Warrant in the 400 Block of St. Clair Ln in Huntsville, Alabama.  Entry to the residence was made by the Sheriff’s Office SWAT team. Upon execution of the warrant, an amount of ICE (Methamphetamine), Xanax, and Marijuana were located inside the residence. Also located were 41 firearms. The firearms included various types of rifles and handguns. Also seized were two bags containing an assortment of rifle stocks, parts, and firearm bolts. One rifle appeared to have an obstructed serial number. The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is member of an ATFE Gun Task Force.  Upon completion of the firearm investigation between both agencies, it will be determine whether the firearms possession or possible altercation of the firearms can be prosecuted at the federal level. The extensive examination and tracking of the weapon origin will take place over the next several weeks.

When the search at the residence was completed, Daniel Blake Sanders, white male, born in 1991, was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance-Methamphetamine (ICE) bond of $40,000, Possession of a Controlled Substance-Xanax bond of $10,000, and Possession of Marijuana in the First Degree bond of $10,000.

Daniel Blake Sanders was arrested on probable cause by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office and is presumed innocent until determined otherwise by the judicial system.
