SHERIFF’S ADMINISTRATIVE AND PISTOL PERMIT OFFICES RELOCATING EFFECTIVE 8/15/2016

Sheriff Blake Dorning announced today the Sheriff’s Administrative Offices and Pistol Permit Offices will relocate to 603 Fiber Street, Huntsville on Monday, 8/15/2016. The offices of the Sheriff and Chief Deputy as well as the Madison County Jail Administrator will be housed in this new building located directly across from the Madison County Jail. Business hours for this new location are Monday thru Friday (except holidays) from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Citizens will no longer be required to visit the Madison County Courthouse to pick up their Pistol Permit. Permits will be available for issuance at the new facility accessible off of Wheeler Avenue between the Huntsville Police Department’s Public Safety Building and the Sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Division (CID) Office and State Probation Offices on Fiber Street. Wheeler Avenue can be reached from the Memorial Parkway service road one-half block south of University Drive or from Church Street. Free parking is located adjacent to the building and is identified with signage. The building is a one-story tan brick structure with a blue roof.

Pistol Permit applications for new applicants and renewal applicants are required to be done on line since the Sheriff’s Office transitioned to a new data management system in December of last year. Permit renewals are no longer done in-person or by mail. To access the Pistol Permit on line system go to www.madisoncountysheriffal.org and click on the Pistol Permit tab on the left of the screen and then enter the application process as directed. An on line computer kiosk is also located in the new offices for those applicants who may not have access to a computer at home or at work.

Property Bonds for inmates currently housed at the Madison County Jail will also be processed at this new location as well.

All telephone numbers and emails for the Sheriff’s Office will remain the same.
