FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Homicide in Madison County

Sheriff Blake Dorning announced today that Madison County Sheriff’s Office Deputies received an emergency 911 call around 10:30 p.m. Sunday evening to respond to a residence off of Nick Fitchard Road regarding a shooting victim. The victim, Adam Fitcheard, age 25 of Harvest, Alabama was transported by HEMSI to Huntsville Hospital, where he later died of his injuries. Investigators responded to the scene and determined the shooting occurred at the FX Market located at 6360 Highway 53, Harvest, Alabama.   Fitcheard was sitting inside a vehicle when a shot was fired from outside the vehicle striking him. Witness testimony at the scene coupled with video surveillance footage has identified Dashawn Rice, age 18 of Toney, Alabama as the shooter. Rice was arrested today without incident on a Capital Murder warrant. The warrant obtained on Rice is based upon Probable Cause and he should be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
