CRIMINAL RECORDS DIVISION
The office of Criminal Records remains an integral component in the agency operations. The Criminal Records Division supports the Madison County Sheriff's Office enforcement operations through comprehensive, expedient, and accurate checks of available databases for law enforcement purposes. The operations of the Records Division remains in accordance with local, state and federal laws governing law enforcement record security throughout operations.
Some of the functions for the Criminal Records Clerk Division include NCIC, communicating through radio traffic with Deputies, and officers from smaller municipalities in the field checking for warrants, or stolen equipment; Enter's warrants, both from the Madison County Court System and smaller municipalities warrants, missing people, stolen property, expungements, protection orders etc... into NCIC; Making extradition arrangements with other states who have arrested suspects with felony warrants that the Madison County District Attorney's Office want returned to be tried in court.
The following are services to the community Monday through Friday from 830am until 330pm:
1. Conducts background checks for the public at a cost of $10; NOTE: You can obtain a LOCAL background check on yourself, you must have a current state issued photo ID. (Cash Only).
2. Provides fingerprinting for the public at the cost of $10 per fingerprint card. (Cash Only.)
3. Provides reports to Victim/Complainant's at a cost of $2 per report. (Cash Only).
The Records Office is located at 705 Wheeler Ave. Huntsville, AL. 35801. Normal business hours to the public are 0800 to 1600hrs Monday through Friday. The MCSO records function is 24hrs, seven day a week.
