Office of Professional Standards-Internal Affairs

 

           The Madison County Sheriff's Office currently maintains a dedicated Office of Professional Standards Detective's trained and specialized to perform internal affairs actions or investigations. Members of the Office of Professional Standards is supervised by  Administrative Captain Chris Whitt who reports directly to the Chief Deputy Bates. All detectives assigned receive specific training to perform the Internal Affairs/Investigation functions. All detectives  utilizes all impartial investigative means to promptly address the circumstances surrounding a complaint and determine a conclusion of fact.

        All complaints, including anonymous, against the Madison County Sheriff's Office employee will be accepted from any source and investigated.

     The MCSO website contains a link enabling users to read, download and print the MCSO 'Personnel Complaint Report'. This report is a detailed document which can be found at  MadisonCountySheriffAL.org. The following instructions are listed on the website to detail the MCSO complaint process:

The Madison County Sheriff's Office complaint process has been developed to ensure this proper relationship provides people with a fair and effective method to address legitimate complaints against Sheriff's Office personnel and to protect deputies and employees from false charges of misconduct or wrongdoing.

  •         Drop it off at the Sheriff's Office training division front desk sealed in an envelope; 5827 Oakwood Rd Huntsville, Al. 35806
  •        Give it to any Madison County Sheriff's Office deputy or employee sealed in an envelope;
  •        Mail it to the Sheriff's Office in a sealed envelope; Attn: Captain Chris Whitt 5827 Oakwood Rd Huntsville, AL. 35806
  •        Email it to the Sheriff's office at [email protected]

       The complaint may also be made in person to the Office of Professional Standards located at the Madison County  Sheriff's Training Facility - 5827 Oakwood Rd Huntsville (35806), or the Criminal Investigations Division- 715(A) Wheeler Ave Huntsville (35801), phone number 256-533-1179. The Office of Professional Standards Commander Captain Chris Whitt or his designee will review the complaint and investigate it completely.
