Special Olympics Northern Alabama and the Madison County Sheriff’s Office will hold a Tip-A-Cop fundraiser event to support local and national causes, like Special Olympics, that promote the health and welfare of families and citizens in local communities. Madison County Sheriff’s personnel have volunteered to collect tips and help serve restaurant guests from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2016, as part of the Signature Tip-A-Cop event benefitting Special Olympics.

The event will take place at both Red Robin Restaurant locations, 365 The Bridge Street and 2720 Carl T. Jones Drive in Huntsville. We encourage the public to visit the Red Robin Restaurant to support Special Olympics and take photos with local law enforcement and Special Olympics Northern Alabama athletes and representatives.

Special Olympics Northern Alabama is a free year-round sports training and competition program for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Financial support comes almost exclusively from individuals, organizations, corporations, and foundations. The Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) is the largest year-round fund-raising vehicle benefiting Special Olympics Northern Alabama. The annual intrastate relay and its various fundraising projects, conducted by officers representing every branch of law enforcement, have a mission of partnering with our communities, to support Special Olympics Programs through raising funds and public awareness, while enhancing the quality of life of our athletes. LETR has raised more than $6 million dollars since its inception in 1998.

Tip-A-Cop® is part of the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run® (LETR) campaign. LETR, which includes an international series of relay runs and special events like Tip-A-Cop®, is presented by more than 144,000 law enforcement officers worldwide to help raise money and public awareness for Special Olympics. LETR is the largest grassroots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle for Special Olympics Northern Alabama through which funds raised go directly to local programs in states or countries where the funds are generated.
