Sheriff Blake Dorning announced today that Matthew Alton Meggs (37) the Inmate that escaped from Work Release has been apprehended in the Birmingham area.  Mr. Meggs was arrested by the Birmingham Police Department, and the stolen 2002 Chevrolet Suburban that he is suspected of stealing to orchestrate his escape was also recovered in the Birmingham area.  Mr. Meggs is currently in the Jefferson County Detention Facility awaiting transfer back to Madison County where he will now face additional charges.
