FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – February 3, 2016 - Sheriff Seeking Qualified Law Enforcement Officers

Sheriff Blake Dorning announced today that the Madison County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for full-time certified Deputy Sheriff’s. Applicants must be Alabama Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) certified and possesses thorough knowledge of criminal justice system and state and federal laws.

To qualify, applicants must possess any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school, be at least 21 years of age, a U.S. citizen or proof of naturalization, not have been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor involving force, violence, or moral turpitude, and available for 24-hour on-call duty. All applicants will be subject to a thorough background investigation and must be willing to take and successfully complete a polygraph examination upon request. Successful completion of a physical agility test prior to police training, drug test, and physical examination of all applicants is required. A valid Alabama Driver’s License is mandatory. Starting salary is $35,360.00 annually with benefits.
